Hello, I am a doctor of Chiropractic trained in the United States and before studying Chiropractic, I was myself a Chiropractic patient.
My initial understanding was that Chiropractic was a “back pain” specialty and that it was an alternative to medical care. Fortunately through reading, talking with others and more importantly through my own personal experience, I found out that it was much more than that! This was an important discovery because it changed for the better, my life and the lives of my family and friends. I was so impressed, by the positive effects that Chiropractic had on my own health, attitude and general well being that I decided to study it and 7 years later graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic. In the years since, I have witnessed dramatic changes in the health of hundreds of patients that have come to see me. I have been honoured to be able to serve. Ninety percent of my patients come to the my office as referrals from others. I consider that a high compliment, one that demonstrates the high degree of patient satisfaction, trust and confidence in the care received and the impact of Chiropractic in their lives. My positive experience with Chiropractic both as Doctor and patient has given me a deep desire to share with others the magnificent gift that Chiropractic has been for me.
First of all Chiropractic is NOT a substitution for medical care.
The public in general has an incomplete understanding of the Chiropractic profession stemming from a lack of information. It often creates a barrier to wellness. In Britain, Germany, Scandinavia and many other countries Chiropractic has been limited to simply a musculoskeletal profession and is regarded as a type of “manual medicine”. This is unfair to both the Chiropractic and the Medical professions since each is a separate and distinct approach and each has its role to serve in healthcare. Again, one is NOT a substitution for the other, rather it is a consideration as to which is more appropriate or whether in a particular case co-treatment is the best choice.
I would like to explain briefly some important points that may surprise you, but that more importantly will help you and your family benefit from optimal health and vitality.
Health is understood to be optimal functioning; physical, emotional, and social, NOT just the absence of pain or disease. Understand that many disease processes begin and develop for years before the patient is even aware. Awareness comes as a result of signs and symptoms which most often are simply covered up (Instead of addressing the causes). The symptoms you experience are in fact your body trying to warn you that something is malfunctioning. A symptom is like a fire alarm, it is wise to see what set it off. Your body then is trying to warn you as well, the question is; will you listen?
Chiropractic has the goal of restoring proper function to the nervous system and of helping a patient attain the best possible health. Chiropractic has been doing that for over 110 years! This is an important difference, because correcting something is a thousand times better than covering it up.
I have successfully taken care of patients with or complaining of headaches, low back pain, sciatica, disc protrusions, disc herniations, fibromyalgia, vertigo, rheumatoid arthritis, arthrosis, joint degeneration, neck and shoulder pain, scoliosis, depression, indigestion, ankylosing spondylitis, attention deficit, spondylolisthesis, chronic fatigue, insomnia, prostate inflammation, carpal tunnel syndrome, bipolar disorder as well as many other conditions.
If you were to ask me whether I treated these conditions my response would
be that Chiropractic is NOT a treatment for any condition. It is a healthcare
system designed to restore proper function. Dis-ease is a state of dysfunction.
Chiropractic allows the body to innately improve it’s health when it starts
to work correctly again. All systems doing their job as a coordinated whole
expresses itself as health and vitality at any age.
There are different Chiropractic techniques that are used depending on the physical condition, presenting complaint, age, as well as the many other considerations of each individual person. I am trained in various and take care of each patient with what is appropriate on each visit.
A person need not be ill to benefit from Chiropractic care as Chiropractic is a valuable tool for all sporting activities and many top athletes include Chiropractic in their training to increase performance as well as to prevent injury.
My staff and I invite you to call our office and schedule an appointment.
During your first appointment, I will document your personal health history
and conduct a physical exam. Using this data, I will then be able to clearly
explain if your particular case will respond to Chiropractic care. If not,
I will tell you directly so as to not waste your time or resources.
If I can help, you will receive a thorough explanation of what you may expect as far as care, expected outcomes and suggestions for lifestyle modifications if any. If you accept, we will become partners in helping you achieve your healthcare goals. Chiropractic adjustments are painless and safe, without the use of medication or surgery. You will be pleased to discover that here, Chiropractic is affordable as well.
If you have been suffering from a particular condition for many years, if you are awaiting surgery for some disc condition, if you seek greater performance or if you simply feel like you are not at your best, then you owe it to yourself to see your Chiropractor. What you can expect is to be treated promptly with courtesy and professionalism. What you can expect, is to improve in health and vitality, and that is exciting!
Remember that, your health is at the root of all your dreams and desires, since nothing can be attained or enjoyed in its absence. We look forward to serving you in our office.
